Moose milk cheese is one of the most expensive cheeses in the world, produced and available only at the Elk House in Bjurholm, Sweden.
This cheese will cost you a pretty penny ($500 a pound), because it is incredibly difficult to collect the milk, as one would image. According to Atlas Obscura, "Coaxing the five liters of milk from each moose per day takes a delicate hand and calm demeanor, which leads to the product’s prestige and price."
The Elk House produces four types of cheese from moose milk: soft-ripened, blue, dried blue, and feta. The Elk House states that moose cheese has a smooth, deep taste with no sharpness or weird aftertaste.
If you're heading to Sweden soon, consider a stop at the Elk House to sample this once-in-a-lifetime delicacy!
