Cheese(s) of the Week - Mifroma Classics

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Mifroma USA. All reviews and opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

Mifroma brings the real taste of Switzerland to your table with these masterfully crafted classics: Le Gruyère AOP, Le Gruyère AOP Cavern, Emmentaler AOP and Switzerland Swiss.

Like all Mifroma cheeses, the classics are produced with fresh milk from grass fed cows. Each wheel is masterfully crafted by Mifroma Maîtres Fromagers (master cheesemakers), following time honored traditions and recipes. Now let us show you what makes each of Mifroma's classic cheeses so special.

Le Gruyère AOP

Le Gruyère AOP is produced according to AOP guidelines dating back to 1115 and from the finest raw milk from grass-fed cows. The wheels are aged for 6 months in Mifroma's sandstone caves which maintain a constant humidity and temperature year-round, during which the wheels are regularly turned and brushed in salt water. The result is an extraordinary cheese with buttery notes and hints of almond and caramel.

Le Gruyère AOP Cavern

Le Gruyère AOP Cavern is produced in the same manner as traditional Le Gruyère AOP: according to AOP guidelines dating back to 1115 and from the finest raw milk from grass-fed cows. Cavern is aged for 11 months in Mifroma’s sandstone caves which maintain a constant humidity and temperature year-round, during which the wheels are regularly turned and salted. This longer aging period results in a full-bodied cheese distinguished from its milder variants by a distinctive crystalline crunch.

Emmentaler AOP

Produced in the east of Switzerland in the picturesque valley of the river Emme, this “king of cheeses” has been locally made since the 13th century. Prepared from raw milk and aged for 4 months, Emmentaler AOP has a sweet, mild taste and is characterized by its cherry-sized holes.

A cheese for the whole family to enjoy. Mild and creamy and made from pasteurized semi-skimmed milk, this is a tasty, versatile cheese that is ideal for cooking, grating or as a healthy, protein-filled snack. Switzerland Swiss is a typical, swiss-style cheese made in local dairies. It has a mild and creamy taste and small holes.

If you're looking to take a tasteful tour of Switzerland right in your own home, Mifroma Classics are there to guide you on your journey! The Mifroma classics are available in 7oz and 4.9oz retail portions.
