National Cheese Day

June 4th is National Cheese Day! Cheese and charcuterie boards are a perfect and delicious way to entertain no matter the occasion. Not only are they very aesthetically pleasing, but the wide variety of flavors and textures are extremely satisfying for the palate!

With the wide range of cheese, cured meats, and accompaniments on the market, selecting products for your cheese board can be a daunting task. So, today I'm gonna introduce you to some of my cheese board must haves!

Starting with the most important, cheese!

Typically a cheese board consists of brie, blue cheese, cheddar, and fresh goat cheese.

A personal favorite of mine is Vermont Creamery's Strawberry Spritz Goat Cheese. A mild and creamy sweetened goat cheese blended with strawberry chunks. I love how this goat cheese tastes like a champagne and strawberries night!

Another delicious favorite of mine is Deer Creek's the Blue Jay, a juniper berry infused quintuple crème blue cheese. This unique blue cheese is made using a recipe in which five ten-gallon cans of cream are added to each vat, along with freshly crushed juniper berries infused throughout to complement the Blue Jay's botanical essence. The result is amazingly fresh to the palate, bold, yet utterly creamy Blue with a soft piney bouquet that effortlessly blooms into your mouth!

Next up we have charcuterie!

Cured meats are an important aspect of any cheese board. Let's add deliciously savory flavors to yours!

Maestri's Prosciutto Italiano is a fantastic slow-cured ham, obtained by salting and curing fresh hams from pigs raised in Europe. It is an all-natural product, minimally processed, using only pork ham and Mediterranean sea salt. Aged at least 400 days, the prosciutto is sliced and packaged in the USA. This is as authentic as it gets!

Another intriguing and savory choice for your cheese board is Elevation's Black Truffle Sea Salt Salami. This salami is made with Italian black truffles, high quality sea salt, and wine - a true respect to the greatest fungi on earth!

Finally, we have accompaniments, which are the perfect opportunity to get creative with your cheese board! The options are truly endless, so choose whatever fits your taste! Accompaniment options include crackers, bread, nuts, mustard, pickles, olives, fresh and dried fruits, and fruit jams.

One of the most astounding fruit jam brands I've come across is Can Bech. The Black Figs Jam made with Macadamia nuts and Jamaican pepper adds a soft, creaminess to your cheese board. The ripe figs blended beautifully with the toasted touch of macadamia nut create a world of complimentary flavors!

To combat the sweet jam accompaniment, we have delicious Les Trois Petits Cornichons! Flavored with vinegar, tarragon, mustard seed, and pearl onions, these crispy gherkin pickles are perfect for your cheese board!
