The story begins with Portuguese immigrant Manuel Da Silva Oliveira. After years in the corporate ice cream world, he wanted more than plain vanilla. In 1980, he opened Heladería Coromoto, starting with just a handful of flavors. His first experimental scoop? Avocado. It took him 50 kilos of trials to nail the recipe, but the payoff was sweet—today, it’s a local favorite paired with black bean or sweetcorn.

The menu grew, fueled by Oliveira’s insatiable curiosity. Suddenly, ice cream was no longer just dessert—it was a canvas for culture and creativity. You could order the house special, “Pabellón Criollo,” a scoop inspired by Venezuela’s national dish, with flavors of beef, rice, plantains, cheese, and black beans.
